Review for Struck by J.M. Davis

SYNOPSIS: After the mysterious death of her boyfriend, Abby Cox swore off men. She’s held true to that promise for the past eight years, but then, Nik happened. A stranger in the right place, at the right time, he not only rescues Abby from a destructive tornado, but also stokes her long-buried desires. For Nik’s safety, she can never act on those feelings.

Pieces of a peculiar puzzle start falling into place, throwing Abby’s entire life into an upheaval, thrusting her into a world she never knew existed. Nik is a Storm Thief, and what’s more, she is a Sky Sorcerer. This explains her ability to alter the weather, and even the strange lattice work of scars that tattoo her skin.

With the God of the Underworld wanting her dead, Abby must battle for her life.

REVIEW:  It took me a long time to get into this story. There was a lot of story in the beginning and I thought that it would get better. If I can’t get into the book in the beginning I usually won’t finish. I persevered through the beginning and found the heart of the story was much better than I expected.

Abby was pretty much a basket case with the mysterious death of her boyfriend and later with the death of her best friend’s husband who was an abuser and drunk. She didn’t know what to think about her actions but she stayed away from dating. Her cousin tries to fix her up on a date and she goes along with it only to find out Mo has paid the guy to try and kiss her. She is furious with Mo, but eventually forgives him because he is only looking out for her.

When her emotions start to turn wild, she notices the weather turns crazy and a tornado appears and it seems like it is following her. Her hero, Nik appears and helps keep the tornado calm and makes sure she is safe.

Abby has many questions to ask Nik but he isn’t anywhere around. She can feel and smell him in her back yard and wonders if he is stalking her. When Nik appears again to her, Abby’s whole body thrums with desire. She knows she wants him but she can’t kiss him because she believes her kiss is deadly.

Nik has many answers for Abby and tries to explain them to her. She doesn’t believe him at first but after a while discovers he knows what he is talking about.

She isn’t ready to take the chance to love Nik and asks him to go away and he does. She finds out that his father is no other than the king of the underworld and she has to go there to find Nik. She has to apology and let him know how she feels. His father has another idea; he wants to keep Abby away from Nik. This will keep Nik under his control.

I enjoyed this story once I got into the story. I felt that there was too much at the beginning that had me wondering if the story was going to go anywhere. I don’t think as much was needed at the beginning. I enjoyed the interaction between Abby and her cousin Mo. They really cared about each other even though they got on each other’s nerves

constantly. I also like the idea of soulmates. Abby and Nik both deserve to be happy.

Review for Je T’aime by Ursula Whistler

SYNOPSIS: Looking for inspiration, designer Genevieve Hoffman agrees to an apartment swap and heads to the south of France. But when the apartment owner’s brother returns from deployment, she finds herself with a man who inspires fantasies rather than fashion.

Etienne Gagnon barely made it out of Syria alive during his last special forces assignment. All he wants is a little R&R in the apartment he shares with his sister. But the woman making breakfast in his kitchen isn’t his sister. He might not understand a word coming out of her mouth, but he has no problem reading body language and likes what she’s saying just fine.

REVIEW:  Genevieve wants Etienne and the feeling is mutual. They do come up with a regular routine but she finds herself lost in a country not speaking the language. She decides she wants to stay and finds out Etienne’s sister wants to stay in New Orleans. She makes arrangements to learn the language and to start her own designs in France.

This is a sweet story but very hard for me to understand. I can only imagine what the two of them went through to try and understand each other. Both not speaking the others language was a major hurdle for them to overcome, I felt for me the story had a good plot and great characters but the language barrier made it hard to get into the story too.

Abigail is a young 20 something who’s just about to start a new job. A beautiful party girl, she doesn’t expect to see an old friend when she steps out of a club. Not just any old friend, but her dad’s best friend Jerry. Abigail hasn’t seen Jerry since she was in high school, and she’s surprised…because now that she’s old enough, she’s having new thoughts about him.

Jerry, who’s going through a divorce, and is about to turn 50 wasn’t expecting to bump into Abigail. Abigail is intrigued by Jerry, and happy that he’s back in town. But Jerry is too much of a golden boy to try anything with his best friend’s daughter, even if she is the right age.

Just how far does Abigail go to get what she wants? Can Jerry keep his calm around Abigail, or will he give into her charm?

This is Romance with My Dad’s Best Friend, an erotic short that explores a realistic look at taboo relationships and sexual encounters. This page turner will curl your toes and bite your lip with the steamy tension, and will certainly satisfy you until the very end.

A quick read about a brief encountered taboo (somewhat…) affair about Abby a twenty something woman and her dad’s best friend since college.

Like I said slightly taboo, but overall not a bad just a quick kinky fantasy kind of read that could be read rather quickly. The ending was open ended and ok that seemed to be opened ended slightly… Like each of the main characters had more to do and say but separately in a different story or may be more of their own…

The last thing Fallon Myers remembers before waking up as a prisoner was walking home from her favorite bodega. Now, she’s being forced to participate in sex shows for the crowds on Voyeur Moon, along with two political prisoners.

Cord and Arlo have been fighting against the extreme faction of Tyranns who now control Voyeur Moon, and who built the infamous Zoo, for years. The charges against them are bogus, but their growing love for Fallon is real.

The three can’t see or hear the crowds who pay to watch them have rough sex, but the shows take an emotional toll on all of them.

When an opportunity to escape arises, the men face a difficult choice. If they leave Fallon behind, the Tyranns will simply place two new prisoners in her quarters. But if they take her along, all three could lose their lives.

A new to me author, a quick easy story to read. I do love Sci Fi and menage so it works.

I ran cold and hot with this one, I mostly liked it. It is book 2 but I don’t feel that it couldn’t be read as a stand alone.

Fallon a woman basically kidnapped to be given to two alien males. Earth as she has known it is no longer,

the invasion was swift and complete.

Cord and Arlo we’d call them resistance fighters both in a different capacity, and the aliens in charge consider both men dangerous and criminals, what better way to find out more information than put a “spy” (for loss of a better word) in their midst. Fallon is told this… Will she willingly play along? Especially after her warden tells her the males true crimes.

The trio connected pretty fast, even with its length it just seemed rushed and not enough meat to it. The heat was pretty hot, again I do love menage. So it worked for me.

I recommend it, because its a good little sci fi read. I did enjoy it and sure you will also.

Review of The Light House by Jason Luke

Title – The light house
Author – Jason Luke
Genre – New Adult, Contemporary Romance
‘The light house’ – A love story.
Art has always been Blake McGrath’s life. Scarred by tragedy, he’s hiding from the world on a lonely beach, struggling with loss and bitter regrets.
Connie is a disillusioned art dealer with troubled relationship issues of her own. Through her sudden mysterious appearance, Blake once again returns to the craft he has mastered to prove to himself that there is hope, that redemption is possible… and that love can last.
Amazon US / Amazon UK / Amazon CA / Amazon AU

This story was beautifully written.  It is the story of Connie Dixon, a disillusioned artist turned art dealer and Blake McGrath, once a famous seascape painter who does not paint anymore.  They were both troubled souls each battling its own demons who found each other by chance, and end up changing each other destiny.  The prose was beautifully written and quite poetic, and there were abundant descriptions of locations.  I also liked how the author describes the painting techniques.  However. all that being said, the story lack actions, so I was easily bored.  I end up skipping pages in search for the continuation of the story.  Please don’t get me wrong, this was a really well written story, but is just not for me.  I am just too impatient.  I hope you will give this story a chance.  The author deserve it.

Review of Dirty Little Secrets Series by Alex Elliott

alex Elliott

What’s your dirty little secret?

For Xavia Kennedy it was freedom. Escape from a pastel painted life ruled by an American dynasty and headed by a formidable foe. One wanted to escape. Her family. X has a plan. Get serious and get the hell out of Bean Town. Away from the pretty people and boring as hell lives.

Then she met him. Smooth talking and gorgeous. All it took was a dim hall.

He called their hook-up a mistake.

No problem. She walked away without a name, just an impression. That was the hottest sex she’d had minus the actual sex. After one Nantucket party too many, Xavia ends up cutting bait and heading to D.C. She hops aboard the crazy train as the newest intern to Bennett Stone.

Or Senator Stone as he’s known on the Hill. He’s more than Cosmo’s sexiest congressman. He’s complicated. A mystery.

Ben doesn’t date. He’s got his own dirty secrets.

But where X is concerned, there’s one he’s willing to share.

If she agrees to his terms.

In his bed, it’s way. All she needs to do is learn to stop arguing.

Impossible when she finds out the connection they share runs too deep to put aside, and she begins to fear the secret under the secret that’s left unsaid.

There a bunch of parts where I glanced over reading it since it contained in my opinion a lot of political hullabaloo… Once may twice is fine but there was bunch of it in this story…

Different & interesting with Dual POVs & Steamy heated scene …heavy on the BDSM aspect.

Included a mix of expected and unexpected twists…ending will have the reader wanting more but I wouldn’t call it a cliffhanger….

Overall an ok story that may not be for everyone.

When the press gets wind of a scandal, they’re cutthroat in unleashing an expose where X gets caught in the crossfire and the eagle has landed takes on sadistic, callous connotations.
Find out what happens in this second installment of Dirty Little Secrets where X and Bennett are forced to deal with the painful past in order to outrun those in power, forging a deeper if not darker connection.

I wasn’t thrilled with the first book and this one wasn’t any better… The dark sadistic erotic isn’t something that I get into reading (that made it a challenge…) X doesn’t know who to trust  while in DC and Bennett where shall I go with that …

Overall slow and there were parts that seemed drawn out long to see the fruition…

What happens, when a man with a bedpost-notching waiting list, a man who thought he had it all, wants the only woman he can’t have?

The Layer Series is written for adults, by an adult (this is questionable). In contains adult language, and adults doing adult stuff like, hot sex and drinking scotch. It’s written for those who like to laugh and maybe shed a tear or two.

Dive into Layers

Hi. My name is Alexia, and this is my story. I’m not your typical girl–so this isn’t your typical…virginal girl goes to college, (or whatever) meets and falls for the hot, alpha, kinky, bazillionaire. Then after a lot of hot sex (one hundred thousand orgasms) they get married and live happily-ever-after, in a mansion with his and her playrooms.

Now don’t get your grannie panties in a twist. All’s not lost. There is a hot guy “lots of hot guys. And my guy—yeah, he’s hot. He takes my breath away. And the sex…Oh my! But the happily-ever-after part, well…

So, girlfriends (and guys) if you want to laugh out-loud—say ‘what the’ a lot, and maybe shed a tear or two. Then come along for the ride. Because, OMG what a ride it is!

The Girl

Alexia Keith has issues and the last thing see needs is the CEO of Ryan Acquisitions messing with her issues.

Her boss is hot. Okay he’s real hot but he’s off limits. She can look but she must never touch—never.

But like all things in her life it becomes complicated. She finds Mr. Ryan ‘hard’…and even harder to resist.

The Guy

Jaxson Ryan thinks he has everything—looks, wealth, job,—the junk.

But that everything turns into a not so everything the minute he meets her—Alexia Keith.

His new risk manager takes his breath away, ties up his tongue and make his…

He wants her and is going to have her—no one has ever turned down this CEO—ever.

It will be a piece of cake—a walk in the park. Right?

What can I say about Layers…First word comes to mind would be interesting…

It was a long read a bit over 300 pages, unfortunately I found myself drifting in some places and in other places its busy…a good mix? Depends on what you like.

Meet Alexia young woman that has got it together…mostly. Alexia is a lover of scotch with a snarky
personality and a vocabulary that would rival a sailor.

Meet Jaxson well her boss mostly that just oozes all kinds of sex appeal, but the fact that he knows
it makes you want to smack him. (smiles).

The part that got me going really .. Embezzle from my company a substantial amount of dollars but because
I want to do the horizonally shuffle with you, I’m going to basically turn the other cheek, and of course
drop a bug in my principles ear, you know just to help them see the light. Pfffttt..

The way the story is wrote… You will have to read book 2 and that is probably why I kind of have mixed
feeling about this one. The length of the story, then the way it ended…. Tsk tsk tsk …

You will have to ask yourself is Alexia really that nonchalant about everything, she isnt one to see to walk
around with her head in the clouds.. So what gives…  Jaxon..mmm well we know if they handed out Oscars for
the amount of bed partners one had, Jaxon would win the lead role. Ahh.. But is Jaxon really as bad as that?
Is he trying to rekindle an old flame, is a one time roll in the sheets for ole times sake.. Tsk tsk Jaxson..

So yeah thats what I get from it.. Good and Bad in equal parts.. I liked and hated in equal parts. Do I recommend
it YES!! Its a new to me author.. Go check it out.. Maybe you will shed some more light on the lives of Alexia and Jaxon.

No way would I have ever believed that I would get a second chance at love. And no friggin’ way would I have ever guessed it would begin in Vegas. I mean, come on girlfriend!

~ Synopsis ~

The third book in the Layers Series. The end to Jaxson’s and Alexia’s story.

Alexia Grant was so close to her happily-ever-after, all she had to do is reach out a grab it…

Jaxson Ryan was so close to having the woman, the life, he’s always wanted. But that was before…

Alexia—The broken part of me—is me. It’s my blood, my flesh, and my bones. It’s cancer in remission, not to be disturbed. If it is, it will metastasize, it will kill me.

Jaxson Ryan—We’d gone beyond, over the hurdle that had pushed us apart so many times before. I was close to touching that place she hides from everyone, even herself, but now…

Alexia Grant

I was that kind of girl. You know the one. I used my imagination to escape, not to create. I dreamt in black, lived in white. I wore days-of-the-week undies, changing them precisely at one minute past midnight. I read Exploring Microbiology and Fundamentals of Finance, for fun. Everyday things captivated me. Like adding, multiplying, and dividing, the polka dots on my tights.

But no one saw that girl, the real me. Never going pass the façade, under the layers. I wasn’t the princess; they’d made me out to be. Peas under my mattress—bring them on. Sure, I had the things, all the fluff, and stuff. None of it mattered, none of it real.

I craved the real—the truth. I searched, I waited, but it never came. Sad and angry came; leaving this life I called, bitch. She was a hard one; we didn’t get along, at first. But I played her games; we made progress, then peace. She laid out her rules; I accept her limitations and boundaries. We were good, I made a plan, had a direction. I was surviving, making my way, minding my own business. But she wasn’t satisfied—blowing it all to hell. She wanted more, the whole chimichanga. That interfering bitch!

Review of the Royals Series by Geneva Lee (Command Me & Conquer Me)

COMMANDMEREBRANDnovWhen he kissed me, I was shocked. He wasa stranger and still so familiar. It wasn’t until I woke up to my picture splashed on the cover of tabloids that I realized I knew who he was.

Prince Alexander of Cambridge.Royal bad boy.

Royal Saga, Book 1 Release: May 2014

review in black

In this 1st book of the Royals Saga we are introduces to both Clara and Alexander. Clara has just graduated from college and moved in to a new London Apartment with her best friend Belle (who was also her college roommate) and is ready to start a new job and stand on her own feet. Also recovering from a recent breakup with a controlling guy that caused her more harm than good she is steadily regaining a since of self.

In walks Alexander. A stranger that Clara meets at a graduation cocktail party for lack of a better description. Having no idea who he is she berates him for smoking in a non-smoking building. There is an instant attraction and she doesn’t out up a fight when the stranger (Alexander) kisses her on the balcony. What Clara doesn’t expect is to have her face pasted all over the tabloids the next day for making out with crown prince.

Basically this a story about whether a common girl and a royal can make a go of thing. Will the pressure of his station be to much for them even with their attraction. Overall I liked the story very quite a bit. There were tons of great sex scenes. The drawback for me was the constant back and forth of both of the main characters. The constant changing of their minds, would they stay together or wouldn’t they. It was like a yo-yo. The fact that the story ended in a cliff hanger wasn’t a draw back for me since I had the next book ready to read. But let this be your warning that there is one.

**Spoilers warning – If you haven’t read Book 1 you may not want to read this review**

I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this book after my mixed feeling of the first one. However I must say I liked this one much more than its predecessor.  I feel that in this book both of the main characters finally came into their own. There wasn’t the back an forth wishy washy decisions as in the first book.

The story starts out a few months after book 1 leaves off. Both miserable from their separation Alexander and Clara decide that they are happier together than apart and try to make a go of their relationship. This time around it is outside forces that will work to keep them apart. Media revelation of a past mistake along with royal family and hangers on making trouble will stress the foundation of their relationship.

Again there are tons of smexy scenes and with the now strong main characters I really enjoyed this book! I loved the way the author ended the story of Alexander and Clara.

My Lady Compelled — 5-Star Review
This is the story of Drummond Penhurst, Duke of Kittridge and Gabriella St. John. They have a past together but she chose another. Now her husband, believing her barren, has put her up for sale. Drummond buys her because she’s the woman he’s wanted for 25 years.
Shirl Anders has this fabulous way of capturing the foreplay, the actual act of sex, and the aftermath, with the most incredible descriptions and emotions. I am in awe of her writing style. This is book one in a five book series and it was fantastic! This group of 5 ex-spies, called the Archangels, start out sitting around discussing their lives and the type of women and love they want, now that they are no longer spies working for the crown. I loved book one and I can’t wait to read more.

My Lady Enslaved — 4.5-Star Review
They were betrayed on their last mission, which left Harrison Ravenscar, the Earl of Ravenscar, with acid burns on his hands and damage to his voice from the toxic fumes. Harrison believes Lia Sang was the betrayer and he wants revenge. He kidnaps her to make her his sexual slave but is it really Lia he kidnaps or is it her twin, Chloe?
This is the second book and almost everything about this book was perfect, except for the endearment used by Harrison. Calling Chloe “baby girl” just didn’t seem to fit the era of this story and every time I read it, it threw me off a little. There were moments I started to think that the things he was doing to her were questionable but she seemed to thrive on his kind of kink. Because it was consensual, it made it acceptable. He thought he was torturing her and she was loving every minute of it. This was another fantastic book in this My Lady Series.

My Lady Captive — 4.5 Star Review
This is the story of Wyndham the Baron of Hawkenge and Orelan Becou, stepdaughter to the late French Ambassador to Spain. He remembers the beautiful 16 yr old who helped them with a case and now 5 years later Wyndham must rescue Orelan from that same mutual enemy by any means necessary.
The love this man must feel for this woman is breathtaking. The lengths they both go through to protect each other is amazing. Again, the only problem I have is with the endearments used by Wyndham. Calling your woman “baby love” just doesn’t fit the era they’re in and again, throws me off when I read it. Still looking forward to the next book in this series.

My Lady Taken — 5-Star Review
Radford the Duke of Sutherlin and Nia O’Shea are the stars of this tale and what a clever tale it is! “Someone” is paying Nia O’Shea to seduce Radford. Nia was doing her job and more until Radford found out that she was getting paid to be with him. You’ll never guess who set up this elaborate scheme.
Fantastic story line! The mystery, intrigue, the chase, and the seduction are awesome. What makes this and the other books in this series, so amazing is that the men are all titled but not worried about prim and proper women. They are all falling for ordinary women and some with scandalous backgrounds. I am loving every minute of this wonderful series!

My Lady Enthralled — 3.5 Star Review
The characters in this fifth book in the My Lady Series are Lord Saxonhurst, Marquess of Hartley and Lady Joelle Zurka. Both have fallen victim to a sexually depraved cult. Used and abused, they find strength to help each other and feelings start to blossom. Together they work to find a way out before their situations become deadly.
The story line is good but love blossoms too quickly to be believable. The end came upon me so fast and I wasn’t ready for that either. It just seemed to be missing a lot of filler story. I was still entranced throughout the entire book and I can’t wait to read the final book in this amazing series.

Connie Hollingsway had just found the meat filling for her hero sandwich. As far as she was concerned, the man met all the requirements she’d requested from Madame Eve, and he sat in the exact location where she’d been informed he’d be. Connie cast a quick glance toward her best friend, Nicole Sullivan, and amended her thought to, our hero sandwich. After all, she’d planned the evening for Nikki, as she could use the diversion. Truth be told, so could Connie.

Bass from inane techno music reverberated off the wood-paneled walls of the Cougar Cave. The club buzzed with excitement, pulsating with the promise of sex and the certain knowledge that one-night stands were the main item on the snack menu.

Connie’s gaze slid back to the hottie sitting alone in a booth directly across from them. The guy, in a word, exuded perfection. Ascertaining his age proved difficult under the flashing strobe lights, since he sat underneath a neon sign for Budweiser that cast a reddish glow over his stunningly gorgeous face.

She’d asked for a ruggedly handsome male under thirty, and the hunk seemed to fit the bill. His milk chocolate-colored, tousled hair had an I-just-rolled-out-of-bed appearance. Sexy. Like most young guys, he had scruffy whiskers, but her keen eye observed the delectable cleft in his well-shaped chin. Three empty beer bottles and a half-full glass sat in front of him, and he waved to the waiter for more.

A sly smile curved her mouth. She’d been told, via e-mail from Madame Eve, that the “man under the Budweiser sign” would be game for a one-night stand with an older woman. Drunk enough, he might even be open and willing to consider Connie’s shocking, but sensual suggestion. Warming Nikki up to the idea might prove a challenge though.

Connie had been about to speak, but the words died in her throat the moment he rose, shook off his leather jacket, and hung it on the coatrack on the back of the bench seat. Her mouth dropped in shock, but she quickly recovered. Taller than she’d first imagined, he stood at least a few inches over six feet. A skin-tight black T-shirt hugged his powerful physique. Tucked into a pair of incredibly tight blue jeans, it showcased his torso to sculpted excellence. Denim strained across rock-hard thighs, a muscular, ass and—her held breath whooshed out and ended in a moan—showed off an impressive package. Man-meat was sharpened into hardened precision, enough to rival the marble statues of Greek gods. Even better than she could’ve hoped for.

She had to get a closer look.
